Somewhere between the rain and the sea That's where i last saw thee With limping bone and breathing heavy And carrying stones in your pockets like jewels and finery They told me my love, my love, you belong to me Somewhere between the rain and sea I will come and find thee And through your tangled hair of starfish and weeds I'll run my fingers my love, do you belong to me Speak to me of rain and seas For that is where I know to find thee With our hearts in our mouths too dry to bleed My love, my love, can we go back to the rain and the sea Oh it's true, it's true I tried to own thee I tried to hold you tight inside of me Oh, with fists, clenched And teeth gritted hard I gave you over To the rain and the sea To the rain and the sea Oh my love be gentle with me For I know now love Of the wild sea You're like me You belong to the song To the song of the rain and the sea So with a mast and a boat To carry us home Our lives Our loves Our burdens and bones We will sink, we will sink With our stoney hearts And rust away Like old tin parts Oh the rain and the sea If only, if only I could belong But we are not strong We are one With the rain and the sea
2.
Here I am My own crowded room Memories and signs Of having loved you Slowly fades this girl from view Darker than the darkest dark Is how she loved you We were lost in this world Only the sound of your song Could bring me back home Oh lead me on With your pipe and your song I have dogs running inside of me I have wolves at my door I belong to the man Who belongs to the night He said He'll be riding late In the milkwood light I have dogs running inside of me I have wolves at my door I have dogs running inside of me I have wolves at my door I have wolves at my door

Bittersweet 03:49
Oh my heart is a bird And its stirred by you Never one to lose heart My bittersweet tune Harpooned my heart You have Without knowing I was caught Caught red handed Come to me in the silence of snow And I will fall at your feet Sailor (Sir tom, I think I got it now) Sailor (Sir tom, I think I got it now) I think I was caught on your sleeve sir I think I was caught I think I was caught out In the marrow of the morrow Will I be the song you'll sing A whistling, whistling Every sailor has his tune And oh God, God I'm a fallen women for you Sailor (Sir tom, I think I got it) Sailor (Sir tom, I think I got it) I think I was caught on your sleeve sir I think I was caught I think I was caught out...

Hold me down here Underwater Hold me down here I breath more freely here Underwater I breath more freely here This ship is casting an anchor he said Her waters are safer, calmer This ship is casting An anchor he said Her waters are safer, calmer I thought we both we Hooked Line and sinking Hooked line and sinking And sinking

Mascara back This love for you Painting her eyelashes This love for you In the review mirror Her love is true Going nowhere and far Just take me with you I've religion Jesus hold me tighter In your sacred arms In your destined palms Mary magdalene Do i give him everything Do i give up my boots Bad and brazen Oh love, the birds are singing And what will we do with our love Oh this love has been so sweet Honey fed to birds and knees are weak Make the grown men cry we do And my heart that was cut out Cut out for you Beatrice Dalle You can turn me on You marry a jailbird And you whistle his song Throw your caution to a flock of winds And they carry you home Sweet lady sin (if you love him You must leave him This is what she said to me For his heart It is burdened And he belongs to god And not thee)
6.
You're the thief aren't you Stolen me with love Mouth so warm All the birds have flown His heart The quickening of breath His heart beat so loud Do you hear it too Act as if you're asleep The beating of pleasure Goes straight to my head Body is wet Blushes His heart The quickening of breath His heart beat so loud Do you hear it too
7.
Under the misletoe Cuckoo shrieks And woodswallow I'll make my fire with you Going to my fire with you Under the curious gaze Of a moon in a headlight haze The towns people are disgraced As you make a lover Of me you do Make a lover Oh how beautifully tied to you I am Oh your fire And your wishing bone hands Under his black beard I'm sleeping His heart is a gambler And me i'm a weeping willow With my limbs so long And i carry his heart in my song Under a roof top steepled A whittled girl meets her wooden maker Oh carve a heart out of me sir With his name writ in me I am stirred Oh how beautifully tied to you I am Oh your fire And your wishing bone hands
8.
This is all I've known This is all that is How could you love me With words like that It's the kill It's the bloodstain It's the kill It's the bloodstain Words with no mouth And you touch with no meaning With sure footedness I'll crack the heart of him Beautifully human I'm crying out for him now Crying out for him now Crying out I'd lost all meaning I'm crying out for him now I'm crying out for him now It's the kill It's the bloodstain It's the kill It's the bloodstain It's the way he says my name Over and over and over again It's the kill, it's the kill It's the bloodstain, it's the bloodstain It's the way she says my name Over and over and over again It's the kill, it's the kill It's the bloodstain, it's the bloodstain It's the way she says my name Over and over and over and over and over and over Over and over, over and over, over, over, over again

Lovers Gun 02:37
The lovers gun When it shines Oh when it shines With a pistol and a jesus shrine She blew her brain And lost her mind The lovers gun When it shines Oh when it shines And the butterflies came out alive And the butterflies Shortly after died Oh when it shines

Rama 07:16
His years though not many Sit lonely and heavy But he sweeps the church sweetly His yearning unnoticed And dreams of a beach That does not need sweeping The waves will not judge him The birds will embrace him Where once again softly In timeless love sweetly Upon the waves lapping Jesus is walking Great oceans to wash away Sins long forgotten Sky full of forgiveness Lord of the birds Rama goes back to the birds The church floor is dusty And full of grey silence But out on the water Where sea birds are wheeling Jesus is walking And he holds out his arms A whispered farewell In life never ending Rama goes back to the birds

I rode my wildest horse It knew the way home And the storms and my weathered soul And on his strong backbone I let him feel the weight of me I let him feel the weight of me For it's true what they say about love It's a bird out of hand and my heart is full of dove And I was warned of your loving ways I was warned and i did stray With your hair as black as jesus And your words become my scriptures He said "you will lose yourself tonight And in my arms you will find your flight" For it's true what they saw about love It's a bird out of hand and my heart is full of dove So I rode my wildest horse It knew the way home And the storms and my weathered soul And on his strong backbone I let him feel the weight of me I let him feel the weight of me

about

Recorded live in house in France over a few days. Very fond memories of the warm fire, the barren trees, the birds flying, all this music coming together, me cooking for 5 french men and being very nervous! but loving every minute of the magic that happened.

“Something truly happens when beautiful voices of the north attack folk music. [She]… has appropriated some American heritage, but it is barely recognisable here, under an assault of fire and ice. A small marvel of poetry who caresses as much as she cuts.” (Journal Ventrilo, France)

“…an undeniable mastery in writing, composition, production, arrangements, visual – a breath and power that does not evaporate, as in many others….Black Crow Jane alternating climates, hot, cold, hit, appeased (skeletal lament Drowning Song, rock and thick skinned Mascara Black, Bloodstain, almost folk delicacy Wishing Bone Hands, Wildest Horse, or …) Between rock and cabaret Gothic Inga Liljeström with her ominous incantations, she reminds us that before her, another Australian came to Europe to impose his unique vision under high influence of tortured crooner: Nick Cave.”(Telerama, Hugo Cassavetti, France)

“This is the album you have been waiting for...there is a tougher more blues based approach...The albums opening track The Rain and the Sea is a standout, its hushed beginnings blossoming and expanding into dirty blues roots number that sweeps itself overboard. Black Crow Jane is the fully realised album Liljestrom has promised, her voice not only both emotive and evocative as before, but now confident and assured.” (Chris Peken, Alternative Media/ City Hub/ City News)

"Inga Liljeström is finding inspiration from more traditional American and blues roots these days, rather than the European atmospherics she has been known for in the past. Of course, it’s blues filtered through her own unique prism...Liljeström has pushed herself with Black Crow Jane. Pushed herself into new sonic territory, even though she had a case to stay within the parameters of the sounds she had successfully inhabited in her first two albums. Pushed herself in the depths of lyrical explorations. Pushed herself to not repeat but grow and develop. That Black Jane Crow is far more than an experiment but a polished, rounded and complete work, is a testament to her skill and vision.” (Adrian Elmer, Cyclic Defrost, Australia)

“A voice poisonous and addictive...'The Rain and the Sea' which opens the album has its share of expected sharp guitars, drums controlled inspired punk… “Dogs and Wolves” brings us back down to earth , or rather, we are nailed on the spot. The atmosphere is the string typed, scraped, distorted, twisted, pinched and dammit, THIS VOICE!…We must wait until the third title “Bittersweet” to succumb to the beautiful soft bites…Nude, we are helpless before such a controlled riot…In 10 years, she produced four albums and released a DVD, called to become cult as it seems that everything this artist touches turns to gold. What emerges is a sensation that continues to escpae being on familiar ground, well marked and at the same time to cross the world for someone extraordinary in every sense of the word. A real discovery.” (Ukhan Kizmiaz, Core and Co, France)
